I create art to connect with the world around me - from the rhythm of ocean waves to the quiet of mountain trails. Whether I'm walking on the beach, hiking through redwoods, or spending time in the garden, I feel a pull to observe and express the beauty and stillness of these moments.
Plein air painting has transformed my creative practice. Being on location, immersed in the atmosphere and light, allows me to truly see what's in front of me. The richness of natural color and texture can't be replicated in a studio. It's an invitation to slow down and be present, which I try to bring to every piece I make.
My work is emotionally realistic with expressive pops of color. I primarily use soft pastels for their creamy texture and immediacy - they help me translate vision into feeling. For travel, I always bring gouache and a sketchbook. These portable tools allow me to capture memories and sensations from trips, vacations, and spontaneous adventures.
Nature is a constant thread in my art: clouds shifting hues, trees catching late afternoon light, or the quiet dignity of a distant mountain. These are the wonders that ground me, and I hope they offer viewers a sense of peace and presence.
Underlying all of my work is a simple message: take care of the earth. Show up. Be present.
